Bicycle Safety Bowl
Month of May
New for 2002, the Bicycle Safety Bowl combines education and practical experience. Students participate as representatives of their school and the school with the highest combined average will receive a trophy. There will be county and region winners, as well as individual achievement awards. Alliance representatives will visit each of the schools to present trophies.
Part I Education
In school educational lectures for grades 4 thru 8 with tests for each grade. Tests will need to be scored and a tally sheet submitted to the Alliance.
Part II Bicycle Rodeo
The Alliance will provide an official obstacle course layout and scoring forms to those hosting a Bicycle Rodeo. Students interested in participating in the second part of the program may attend any rodeo and be graded on their performance in the obstacle course. Those scores will also be submitted to the Alliance.
The Alliance will provide: lecture outline, tests and tally forms, pencils, layout of official obstacle course and scoring forms, bicycle spoke reflectors, Helmet ID Systems, posters for the schools to promote the events, and advertising.
