Bicycle Safety Bowl
The Bicycle Safety Bowl (4th-8th grades) combines education and practical skills in a friendly competition between schools. Students are scored on each part and the scores combined for an average by school. The school with the highest average in each county will be the County Winner and the school with the highest average becoming the Regional Winner.
In school educational lectures can be taught by classroom teachers. All the information is in the pamphlet which is provided by the Alliance in the quantity requested. The Alliance will also provide the test and tally sheets.
The bike rodeo is designed to test the participants skills, such as straight line, weaving and meaneuvering, signaling and stopping abilities. It can be put on by the school or a local organization. The Alliance will provide the dimensions for each of six skills, as well as the forms. Sidewalk chalk can be used to create the actual course.
The Alliance will also provide a Helmet ID System and 2 spoke reflectors for each bike rodeo participant.
